Painting the Figure in Watercolor
I
nstructor: Tom Francesconi

9:30 am to 4 pm

The focus of this workshop will be a simplified approach to painting the figure. Learn how Tom creates paintings that are rich in color and resonate with emotion. Tom’s energetic teaching style and his passion for painting combine to create a workshop experience that is enjoyable, informative and inspirational. Each morning will begin with a discussion covering various topics as they relate to the figure. Within this process, painted examples will be employed to help the students more readily grasp abstract concepts. Afterwards, Tom will demonstrate a figure study from start to finish. Each day will cover a different aspect of painting the figure: (1) Painting the clothed figure, (2) Painting a portrait and (3) Painting the figure in the landscape. Students will work from their own reference photographs. Ample opportunity is provided for everyone to paint with individual direction/guidance a priority. A group critique each day will allow everyone an opportunity to learn from the works of others. Tom welcomes students of all levels. Tom’s work can be seen at www.tomfrancesconi.com
