Heading South, A Farewell Exhibit
Corner gardens, city parks, lakes, open prairies, old growth forests, desert canyons, wandering streams, imposing mountains, turbulent rivers, deep oceans, places where the wild ones roam, hidden caverns ... all of these sacred spaces feed my soul, make my heart sing and inspire my art. Although I’ve worked in many different media, pastel has seduced me with the delight of pure pigment, brilliant color and end- less possibilities.
I was born and raised in the city of Chicago. I now reside in the lovely suburb of Downers Grove. By the end of 2017, my husband & I will relocate to Lakewood Ranch, Florida. So, I am “heading south”, and that’s why this becomes a farewell exhibit.
Art has always been part of my life. Although there have been a few detours along the way, I’ve never strayed far from the path. As with many people, life intervened. Only in retirement, have I had the pleas- ure of returning fulltime. I found inspiration and support through membership in local art leagues and societies, especially the La Grange Art League and the Chicago Pastel Painters.
