One-Day Workshop: Intro To Gel Printing

Instructor: Cynthia Riccolo

Intro To Encaustic Painting Workshop

Date: Saturday, 10/21/23

10am - 12:30pm

Limit 12 students

Adults

Want to learn something fun and unique? Gelli/Gel printing is a form of art that allows you to make vibrant prints using a plate made out of gelatine. It’s done by transferring the paints from the plate to the paper. Previously in order to make monoprints, you had to have a press but this fun way of making prints just got easier. The gelli plate is a soft silicone plate that allows to you create beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints to be used in collage, card making as well as wall art. The possibilities are endless.

The painterly approach to monotypes (gel printing) can range from loose and spontaneous to structured and carefully planned…and everything in between. In other words – this technique is for everyone!!! Come get your art on with us!

Photo + Encaustic: Into the Blues

$455.00 - $485.00

3 -Day Workshop by Sarah Rehmer

Fri-Sunday 9-4

12/1-12/3/23

$455 members/$485 non-members

This workshop is designed for both painters and photographers interested in gaining new skills and pushing the boundaries of their studio practice through the combination of encaustic, collage, and photography.

Demonstrations introduce you to the basics of encaustic painting and digital printing, while we will explore ways to further alter our photographic images through a series of markings and underpainting combined with monochromatic imagery that borrowers from the look and feel of traditional cyanotypes. We will focus on incorporating embedded photo prints on thin papers such as tissue and Japanese papers, creating ethereal and richly detailed works.

We will start off with Sarah’s steps for creating and isolating images in photoshop to get the look and feel of cyanotypes, and then move on to building up underpaintings.
