This session is an excellent opportunity for artists to think differently about how to write an artist statement. Cynthia has spoken to artists about this topic for over twenty years. Her insights and tips will focus on ways to better understand your art so it becomes easier to write and talk about it.  Digging deeper is the important work behind a successful artist statement that truly reflects you and your unique art.  While AI and ChatGPT can “write” an artist statement for any artist, even these tools ask you to identify your “artistic inspirations” or “words and emotions to describe your art.” 

 The artist statement acts as a bridge between you and the viewer.  It is an opportunity to share more about what’s behind your work---your life experiences, memories, fascinations, and inspirations.  Your artist statement links your choices of media, design elements, and techniques to a larger context of how you see the world and why you choose to make art the way you do.
