Discover the art of linocut printmaking in this hands-on, creative course designed for beginners and intermediate artists alike. Whether you’re a beginner eager to dive into printmaking or an artist looking to add a new dimension to your work, this course offers a welcoming environment to expand your creative practice. Experienced printmakers are welcome to join, as projects will be self-paced. Linocut, a versatile and expressive form of relief printing, involves carving an image into a linoleum surface, inking it, and then transferring the design onto paper or fabric. In this course, you will learn the entire process—from sketching your design and carving the linoleum block to printing multiple copies of your artwork.
Through step-by-step instruction, you’ll explore essential techniques like handling carving tools, creating texture, and layering color. By the end of the class, you’ll have completed a series of original prints, gaining a solid understanding of the craft and the confidence to continue exploring linocut independently.
