Saturdays: 5/6, 5/13, 5/20


This class is formatted like a class/workshop hybrid. Each class will build upon the skills from the prior week, set up in more of a workshop format to allow students more worktime each week, but also allow students time to reflect on work themes and aesthetic considerations a much deeper way. Students should be prepared to work on paintings over multiple sessions. Each class will include ample one-on-one time to talk about layout, composition, and color.


A $50 supply fee will be due at the first class to cover shared materials, tools, and paints, students will need to supply their own medium and substrates. See supply list for details. Students may also supply all their own materials if they wish.

Supply fee for paint and other consumables: $50 payable at first class to cover encaustic paints, oil sticks, and other shared materials 


Supply list for all sessions: 


Panels to work on depending on size. Nothing larger than 12”x12” Flat will work, but cradled panels are easier to work on. Should be wood or Ampersand brand encausticbords – advanced students may wish to work on one singular larger work


1-2 lbs of encaustic medium. R&F or Enkaustikos brands


1” 3M Blue tape


A notebook


Apron


A spray bottle for water


A roll of Viva or blue shop towels


x-acto knife and blades


Scissors


Optional:

papers to collage with no acrylic coated. I will also have some to use. 


There will be other optional materials you may wish to bring, we will talk about it each class prior
