Plein Air Wildlife WORKSHOP | Clark

Instructor: Kelley Clark
Email: kelleyquinnclark@gmail.com
Phone 312-505-4822

I encourage a sense of play in teaching and working, so I like to prep and do a lot of drawing studies followed up with color studies in watercolor and pastels. Once we are working from the same language and approach, then I encourage you to take that into your individual medium where artist's can work in whatever medium they like the latter part of the day. I will have tables to work from, but encourage you to bring you travel easels to work from. I will also provide one tent to store materials under.

Mandatory
  • Sketchbook, ringbound, black cardboard cover; Mixed Media or Watercolor paper suggested
  • Sketching Materials: graphite pencil (4B or 6B), vine charcoal
  • Watercolor Travel Set. Windsor & Newton OR Koi Sets work great 12 color sets are perfect.
  • 1" Flat Hake Brush
  • 2 Small Watercolor Round Brushes Size 2 and 4 or 6 soft hair recommended
  • Painting Medium of Artist's Choice
  • Lunch
  • Bring a camera if you want to take photographs
  • Sunscreen & bug spray
  • Sun Hat
  • Shoes that can get dirty
  • Masks for group demos, but individual work we will be more than 6ft apart

Medium
Artists can work in whatever medium they would like. Because the emphasis is on color, it translates to all mediums. If you have never painted, I suggest keeping with the watercolor. Otherwise watercolor, acrylics, oils , or pastels recommended *select one. Bring enough colors to have a complete color wheel ranging from yellow through violet with black and white.
Artists bring some sort of surface. If you need suggestions email me directly kelleyquinnclark@gmail.com. Watercolorists, watercolor paper with support for painting. Pastel, oils and acrylic artists will have access to easels and tables to work at, but bring your preferred surface - UA400 Paper, canvases, etc.
