Oil pastels are an easy and fun way to paint. This course will show you how to apply, blend, and layer colors to make beautiful paintings. You’ll also learn a bit of color theory, drawing, and composition.

These pastels are a relatively new medium in the art world. They were created by the French art materials manufacturer Sennelier at the request of artist Henri Goetz for his friend Pablo Picasso, who wanted a stick of paint he could use without technical issues on any surface. Sennelier reinvented the basic crayon with an oil-based stick of color rich in pigment and soft enough to blend on any surface, including canvas, paper, cardboard, or glass. Today’s artists have a variety of Oil pastels to choose from with varying levels of softness to meet the needs of any artist.

If you want to learn how to paint, this course will be a fun way to start your journey. Even if you are new to art, you will find oil pastels an intuitive medium that produces impressive results with little or no mess.
