I create mixed media collage pieces on wood panels and canvas using found paper, fiber, corrugate, fabric and more. Almost every material I come across is considered and evaluated as possibility in my work. Once I figure out the materials and where I will use them, I manipulate some with paint, chemicals or mark making. Recently, I have added prints made from my linoleum carvings into my pieces.

The medium of collage forces me to work from the back of a scene forward. It is an exciting challenge for me to try to figure out how to make the pieces work and how to establish relationships between materials. These relationships create the mood of my pieces. Though my art is considered abstract, viewers will recognize my subject matter, sometimes even using familiar landmarks to jog a memory or emotion. My aim is to have the viewer drawn into the piece to explore the materials, textures and composition.
