• Works on paper: framed under glass with clean, dust-free mats
  
• All artwork must be wired for hanging using two D-rings placed one-third from the top
  
• Wire must be taut and not visible above the frame
  
• Bumpers required on bottom corners
  
• Unframed canvases: must have finished edges (approx. 1.5") and follow identical wiring standards

• Hand-delivery only — shipped works will not be accepted

• While we welcome a wide range of artistic expression, the LaGrange Art League reserves the right to decline artwork that may be considered controversial or unsuitable for our gallery environment.
  
  

• Each application allows the submission of up to three pieces.
• Multiple entries are permitted.

To enrich the viewer experience, artists are required to include a brief statement about each submitted piece. Your artist statement should describe the inspiration behind the work, the emotions or ideas it expresses, and the ways in which it reflects the artist’s intentions—whether personal, communal, or environmental.

Please keep statements to 150 words or fewer.

Jurors

We are honored to have two esteemed jurors for this exhibition.

Sister Frankie

Sister Frankie has enjoyed art since childhood. After exploring several different media, she discovered a particular love for watercolor.

Watercolor is a medium that defies precise control, yet it can produce wonderful and unexpected results when we learn to let go. Sister Frankie sees watercolor as a lesson for living. When the water and paint take off on their own, we may feel that we are no longer in control—but often, this is when the unexpected becomes even better than what we originally planned.

For Sister Frankie, watercolor teaches us that beauty often emerges when we stop struggling for control and allow ourselves to embrace the unexpected.

Lenox Wallace, TWSA

Lenox Wallace, TWSA, creates realistic, dynamic watercolors depicting a variety of subjects. She works on both watercolor paper and canvas, drawing inspiration from photographic resources as well as on-site observation.

Lenox has earned Master Signature Status with the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA), where she currently serves as a Board Member. Her work has been featured in Splash 3, Splash 5, published by North Light Books; Watercolours in a Weekend, published by David & Charles; and Watercolor Secrets by Robin Berry, published by Reader’s Digest.

She has taught watercolor for more than 50 years at art schools and art leagues throughout the greater Midwest. In addition to teaching, she has demonstrated watercolor techniques, juried exhibitions, and guided multimedia critiques. Her 33-year career in art education has helped her develop a strong foundation in sound composition and an ability to make watercolor techniques accessible to adult students.

Lenox describes her artistic philosophy:

“In this race of life, I attempt to capture calm, rich moments of time. I tend to ‘push’ value contrasts to increase the perception of depth within the space. My intent is for the viewer to relate to the sense of depth and therefore more easily share the moment.”
