"Terry Madden Style" Watercolor Workshop
Certified Instructor Carmelo Schifano
Paper
I like using D'Arches (or any other top quality name brand) 300 pound, cold-pressed, size 22"X30" (1 sheet) to be cut in sections for half and quarter sheets
Some prefer to use 140 pound paper, whatever you are comfortable with is okay
We will be using 1/4 sheets in these workshops
1/4 and half sheets can be bought as "BLOCKS" which does not require mounting
Arches carries 140 and 300 pound BLOCK paper | 12"X16" is considered to be 1/4 sheet
If you quarter a full 22X30 sheet, your 1/4 sheet will be close to 11"X15"
Brushes
Watercolor Brushes (suggested sizes and brands). Any good brand of watercolor brushes will be fine.
Colors
Terry has his own brand at Hobby Lobby Stores. Good to use their 40% coupons. I use mostly American Journey watercolors from Cheap Joe's, Terry's and others. Suggestion: A good start for your color selection:
Other Tools
Mounting Board for Watercolor Paper
Suggested Measurements are approximate
For 1/4 sheets you will need a hard board at least 14"X18". Some like using "core board" which can be found at most art stores. If you use a masonite type board, make sure its painted and sealed on one side (Try Home Depot for masonite. Some home centers can cut what you may need to size)
Any questions: Don't be afraid to ask...call me (Carmelo) at 708-560-5819 (cel)
