MONDAY CLASSES

WATERCOLOR

For Beginners
Instructor: Lois Hrejsa
Dates: June 23 through July 21
Time: Mondays 9:30 a.m. to Noon

basic instruction in techniques, color mixing and theory, washes, light and shadow, etc. Intermediate and advance students will have the opportunity to further explore watercolor with attention to the areas of interest to the individual student.
Advanced assignments are planned to expand the students painting experience.

All Levels

Students with drawing experience will be encouraged to try other drawing materials. Colored pencil, watercolor washes combined with pen and ink, etc. Development of techniques on individual and group basis.
Weather permitting, students have the option of working outside.
Beginning students will need a 12” x 14” (or larger) sketch book, a 2B pencil and a kneaded eraser.

CREATIVE DRAWING & PAINTING

Beginning & Intermed.

Time: Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Strengthen your drawing and painting skills with dynamic composition, light and form.,br> Learn creative techniques in the exploration of the media of your choice.
Work in oil, acrylic, pastel or colored pencil or combine to experiment in mixed media techniques. Students’ own reference materials.

BEGINNING COLLAGE

Adults-Beginning
Instructor: Laura Lein-Svencnera
Dates: June 24 through July 22
Time: Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. .

What’s the buzz about Collage? Do you want to learn more about it? Then begin with this basic class in collage. Students will be learning the proper paper preparation and design principle needed to create a good composition. The opportunity to freely explore and express exciting techniques will be offered. Supplies needed for our first class are spiral sketch book, scissors, magazines and glue sticks. Collage booklet will be handed out in the first class with the extended supply list needed for the rest of the classes.

GARY’S PASTEL TECHNIQUES

Intermediate & Advanced.
Instructor: Gary Wick
Dates: June 18 through July 23
Time: Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. to Noon

This session will be structured around the use of archival foam board backing., standard sized paper usage, washes using various methods of application on Wallis Archival Sanded papers. Rembrandt pastels are desired with additional softer pastels such as Unison and Sennelier, etc. You will paint from your own photos so bring some with you to class. Some materials are available at additional cost. Paintings will be critiqued weekly.

HOW TO DRAW REAL LIVE PEOPLE

Ages 10 and up
Instructor
: K. Aurencz Zethmayr
Dates: June 18 through July 23
Time: Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m

Learn how to draw friends, family and/or anyone you like, using foundational knowledge you wouldn’t get otherwise until high school. We’ll cover basic anatomy and proportions, take turns doing partner drawing and action poses, and explore how to draw recognizable people both from live sittings and from photographs. Bring 11”x14” sketchbook, drawing pencils, colored pencils, crayons, pocket folder, pens, if desired.

SILK PAINTING


Instructor:Karen Snow
Dates: June 18, 25 and July 2
Time: Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Explore two basic silk painting techniques: you will create three abstract design scarves, one each of silk chiffon, habotai silk and crepe de chine; and one scarf using the French serti (resist) technique. Designs come to life as both beginners and experienced silk artists benefit from seeing new possibilities in this ancient medium. Create inspired art textiles as you explore the exciting world of painting designs on luxurious silk fabrics. Achieve complex results from remarkably simple techniques as you discover fresh ways to personalize your own style and imagery. All dyes brushes and finishing supplies provided. A $24 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class. Wear old clothes. Class size limited to 6.

ART AROUND THE WORLD

Ages 8 and up

Dates: June 19 through July 24
Time: Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Join the fun while learning about art from a different part of the world each week. Learn to use a variety of art media while exploring traditional art styles from around the globe. Everything from drawing to painting and collage will be introduced. All materials will be provided. Spend 8 Saturdays in 8 countries for a world of fun!
Fee: $90 M         6 Weeks

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND COMPOSITION

Instructor: Jim Sorfleet
Dates: June 19 through July 24
Time: Thursdays, 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This course will cover basic to intermediate use of digital photo equipment and composition of digital still photographs. Students will learn general skills on working with digital imaging equipment such as file types and workflow techniques, as well as basic lighting methods. Basic compositional elements such as background, foreground, lines, forms and use of negative space will be discussed. There will be practical application of the student’s knowledge in the form of class excursions in search of photo opportunities and possibly the use of live models. Group reviews will be made of the class photos. Student should have basic email skills.
Supplies needed: Digital camera with users manual.

Creativity is encouraged, observational skills are developed and art history is discussed as students draw, paint, collage and sculpt. Great Summer Fun! Creative juices will flow! Supplies are included.
