Course Description

Join us for a day of quiet creativity and sacred art.  In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the basic principles of ancient art of iconography through step-by-step instruction in a peaceful, supportive setting for all skill levels.  No painting background needed.

About the Instructor:

Marcia Allison is an iconographer, deacon, and teacher working in the Byzantine tradition of egg tempera.  Since 2009, she has studied with master iconographers and developed a practice that blends technique, contemplation, and pastoral care.  Each icon begins in prayer and is created with intention, honoring the story and spiritual needs of the person or community who receives it.

She teaches workshops and retreats welcoming beginners and experienced artists alike.  Her approach is gentle, structured, and deeply encouraging, offering participants a peaceful space to learn the ancient craft of icon writing and to reflect on the spiritual meaning behind the work.
